What is Chakra Basics?

For beginners or those interested in a moderate practice, physical movement, alignment and breathwork serve to develop physical strength, and flexibility, breath awareness, energy (prana) flow and focused attention. Chakras are described as metaphysical, psychoenergetic vortices of energy that define the various aspects, qualities and actions of prana; there are seven such ‘wheels’ of energy threaded like beads on a string connecting the base of our spine to the crown of the head. The practices of hatha yoga are effective because they strengthen the flow of prana in our bodies invigorating the current so it carries away obstructions and toxins that block the free flow of energy.
