What is Chakra Vinyasa Krama?
Yoga is a proven methodology supported by empirical wisdom and a rapidly increasing body of scientific evidence to corroborate much of what many seasoned yoga practitioners know to be true through their own experience. Science shows that the brain and the body (soma) are integrally connected, and the vitality and health of both defined and enhanced by their ‘plasticity.’ Yoga practice is essentially a therapeutic dialogue between the mind and the body, comprised of somatics—placing the attention (the mind) within the body to direct, inform and refine very specific and conscious movements and actions, and vinyasa krama—or the art of wise sequencing, which ultimately determines our overall experience of a given practice, as well as the extent to which it addresses (or neglects) our individual needs and capacities, and moves us in the direction of enlightened being and enlightened living.
Chakras are designated as wheels of energy that align with the spine where matter and consciousness meet. Eastern spiritual traditions consider the seven primary chakras the basis of our human existence. Similarly, today’s Western approaches place an emphasis on the seven chakras as representations of different aspects of our life and describe their function in various terms encompassing the psychological, physical, energetic and spiritual. Chakra vinyasa krama yoga describes a creative and wisely-sequenced yoga practice that works with the innate intelligence of each posture as it becomes revealed to the practitioner. Each pose follows from the previous one in a sweet synergy of movement, bandhas and breath, energetically sequenced according to the chakras to balance and best meet the needs of body, mind, soul and spirit. Savasana completes the experience by bringing you gently back to your divine, sweet, Self. All levels welcome.
